Regarding upgrades, personally I'd be nurturing a relationship a lot earlier than that. But then again my wife considers that as "finding a victim"! ..... given a little email and friendly banter and a plausible story, I'd be surprised if you didn't land a nice enough upgrade....depending on your entry level of room of course.
And yes the cuisine was nice enough. Have to confess it was a corner of the world that never really grabbed me. The wife been on about going for years and when this new IC opened up, it gave the excuse and reason. For slightly odd thinking I had this image of it being knee deep in Ryan Air type Brit tourists (I can say that I am a Brit :-) ) and to some degree I believe this can be true but we saw a rather nice town, area and hotel and experience. So my jaundiced preconceptions were pleasingly proved wrong. We would return for sure.
Roger that, I will reach out a few months prior then. Appreciate all of your advice!
I too thought of renting a car as it'd be similar to price of transfer, but not sure we'd do enough travelling to warrant the extra burden.
