I think the overall assessment on this thread is pretty clear!
I've only flown SQ once in the last 10 years, and that was solely because my MH connection at KL failed. However I found the SQ business class soft product on the short hop from SIN to HKT to be significantly better than the BA long haul soft product (and far superior wines and spirits on offer in the SQ business class lounge at SIN also)
The only thing that will stop me flying SQ more now, is that they tend to be the most expensive option on most routes I'm likely to fly
Does anyone remember the good old days (before the internet natch.) when fares were governed by arcane rules laid down by IATA and the price you paid depended whether your ticket was SITI or SOTO and where you were flying from and to, but was completely carrier-independent?
I remember flying DEL-SIN rtn in the early 90's on SQ in F for around £480 rtn. I knew about that fare because in those days Business Traveller Asia used to have a handy pull-out section listing business class and first class fares between various places in Asia. Happy days!
