I guess you could say that the rooms at Samode Haveli are dark-- they're true to the original architecture and furnished with dark woods and lush fabrics, so it's a little more moody than you might expect from a modernized building. I had a great stay there and thought the property was gorgeous; the bathrooms are quite extravagant. The Samode offers a morning walk around Jaipur which was one of the highlights of my trip-- you get to see the city as it wakes up and it's a great experience. I'd guess that a similar activity is available at other hotels, but don't know for sure.
