Saudi - Any experience checking bags on separate tickets with interline partner

I am booked IAD-RUH-MCT on an SV ticket with SV flight numbers and RUH-MCT is operated by WY. I was then going to fly on to HKT on WY on a separate ticket but the layover is only 2h10m. We were initially planning for hang baggage only but this is looking less likely. The next nonstop to HKT is not for 36 hours, so I have booked an alternative ticket on QR MCT-DOH-HKT with a more comfortable layover in Muscat. I am trying to figure out if using the original nonstop is still possible. The two ways I could imagine this still working is 1 - Saudi checking bags through, I am not sure if the second segment being operated by WY will help at all or 2- paying for a service that collects our bags and drops them off to the connecting flight but am not sure if this is even offered at MCT.

Thanks
