The most recent TA review for this hotel seems to drill home the point about avoiding it if the current state of the property will affect your stay in any way. Based on the GM's response and disclaimers on other websites, it appears they are trying to be upfront about the extent of the work at the hotel, but at the end of the day, this property has slipped into disrepair and is now playing very hard catchup. I can't dig up any other information as to when the work will wrap up, as all the sources I've found are now saying it's ongoing "until further notice".
It's a shame GH MCT has come to this, but I can only hope we'll see tangible improvements at the earliest; local competition is stiff with the new Mandarin Oriental and St. Regis now open, and with the Kempinski, W and renovated InterContinental kicking about, the pressure to get it together is very much on. I wish the team luck - this can't be easy.
