I completely agree with scented that the FS remains the market leader in KL, closely followed by the grand dame, MO. Our fantastic 4-night stay during New Year’s Eve reaffirmed FS’s standing.The hard product at FS is very good—while a few signs of aging and cost-cutting are noticeable if you look closely, the overall experience places FS in a different league. Unless MO undertakes a major renovation of its rooms, it’s hard to see it catching up.

Service at FS was typical of the brand: warm, efficient, and friendly. Despite the expected crowding at breakfast and the pool on the 31st and 1st, the team managed things quite well, with only minor service lapses—far better than our experience at Raffles Doha last year. The gym and spa deserve a special mention for being fantastic.

Curate was fully booked for the NYE dinner, so we headed over to MO instead for dinner and the countdown. The staff at MO were simply outstanding—they excel at managing large-scale events with warmth and courtesy. It’s a reminder of just how much potential the property holds. With an overhaul of their hard product, MO could easily rival FS.

For now, FS remains our go-to place in KL, and we’re looking forward to our next visit!
