Not from my experience. I think assuming £3.5k to £4k per ultra long haul J return is fair. At least for the destinations I want to travel.

Yes, there could be found deals on dates/destinations that I don't want to travel but that is rather meaningless.

I have seen YouTube videos on how to reach Gold for £4k or even less and now I do get it why BA has done this. It is hardly fair. Gold should be reserved for wealthy frequent fliers. that is it. And I am not afraid to say this because I am not wealthy to ever reach Gold under new scheme, so I can be objective about this.

Lets admit it, it has been so comically easy to reach status with BA under current scheme that it sort of became meaningless and BA had to do something about it. Will I ever reach Gold? Doubt it, unless I win the lottery. Silver threshold is fair, IMHO.
