Even the boarding pass issued by BA reads (prominently in double-sized font) AS3307 SOLD AS BA2989.

I'll certainly report back to add to the lessons learned as we move forward in this new era!
It is right. The marketing carrier is the 2 character carrier code that preceeds the flight number. Your AS operated, BA marketed flight BA2989 was sold (plated) by BA and issued on their BA125 ticket stock as evidenced by your Mileage Plan activity.

SEA-PDX BA2989 I : BA Marketed, BA plated, AS operated flight SEA-PDX in fare class I

I think it might be less confusing if you ask yourself, what airline plated (sold) the ticket. If that answer is AS then the flight(s) will earn according to the AS charts. If that answer is the partner then the flight(s) will earn according to the unified partner chart.

AS codeshares on partner flights will always be AS marketed. Under the new format, AS can plate some partner flights that are marketed & operated by the partner on the partner prime flight numbers. As long as those flights are AS plated, they earn according to the AS earning chart.

James

Going forward:

Did AS plate (sell) the partner flight?
Yes: AS charts
No: AS unified partner chart
