The same thing just happened to me, I believe. Earlier this week I booked the Four Seasons Orlando for one night in January, on the FHR site and chose Prepay from the payment menu so I could get 5x on my Plat. This morning I realized that the $200 credit renewed yesterday (I had used the 2023 credit earlier in 2023), so I booked the same room, same way, and then after I received the confirmation I tried to cancel the reservation I made earlier in the week (cancellation allowed without penalty per terms of hotel). I couldn't cancel online because it said it was postpaid. So I chatted the Amex rep, who said no it is postpaid but the hotel charged you a deposit so you must be confused. Heck yes, that's very confusing, and now I doubt I'll get my 5x points or $200 credit. This is truly an unfair glitch that Amex should fix - if it's not prepayable even when you click on prepay, then they should make it clear that you will get the other benefits (F&B credit, late checkout) but not your points or $200 credit. Very disappointing.
