Was thinking about this too as I reckon with my current travel and CC spending I'd earn around 5k NTPs/year. So if I wanted to retain Silver I'd need to find 2.5k more.
Though almost certainly won't be actually following through and doing this since BA clearly don't want my (albeit small) custom. More just academic and out of interest.
Basic summary:
BA/IB/AA - spend-based (not sure about EI)
AY/QR/JL are JBV partners (AY/JL to Japan and AY also transatlantic) and have double the rates of everyone else. Fully flex premium economy and cheap business are each 25% of miles flown although AY offers flexibility on cheap buckets that won't be reflected in BA earnings.
