We actually liked the mangrove view last time. We have an oceanfront condo second home (not Mexico but Florida) and so we have that view often. I do like people watching on the beach that that view would provide. And opening the big doors to the balcony is nice. I’ll see what spouse prefers.
Meanwhile I got the following email (applied the GOH yesterday). I don’t recall getting this sort of email last year. I am unclear why they think a glob/GOH would pay for club access or room upgrade (unless they wanted guaranteed suite or something). This time last year they did not seem to be all that full/busy.
The glass half empty view is that they want to make some money instead of upgrading you for free.
The glass half full view is that it allows you to choose and guarantee a room type you prefer, instead of having it assigned to you.
