2025 United PQF/PQP/BIS Status Milestone Roll Call Thread
United is measuring us based on Premier qualifying flights (PQF) and Premier qualifying point (PQP), and this seems to impact how we all measure milestones. I still cannot figure out what the milestone measurements should be. Is it the milestone to achieve United defined status or milestones for how much flying (as measured in the past using “butt-in-seat miles” BIS)? Under the current model, one can buy a really expensive full fare business class ticket and instantly achieve status without meeting the PQF threshold.
As airlines are moving to “frequent purchase program” from the legacy “frequent flyer program” that was first introduced in the early 80s, many of us have had to change our travel and spending behaviors and mindsets to adjust to the new normal.
This milestone thread has been in existence for over a decade. It started when status was earned based on BIS, and SWU/GPUs were earned based on incremental BIS. It was easier to measure who are the true road warriors.
Since the airlines elite programs have evolved over the last decade to the current PQP/PQF (with United award travels and credit card spent coming to the mix) model, milestones have changed from the measurement of road warrior based BIS system to status earning milestone based on a hybrid flying and spending system.
This Milestone thread is for both the legacy measurement and the current hybrid measurement. We are always happy to read Flyertalkers making status and also have appreciation to the true road warriors who fly a lot of BIS but may not earn certain tier of airlines status because of the spending criteria. We are always open to read your milestones no matter how they are being measured.
As an example: I will only report my annual paid United BIS and paid United lifetime BIS because of my lifetime GS status makes PQF/PQP irrelevant milestone to me. Others consider achieving annual status in the Mileage Plus program is more reflective of their milestones and they will report their PQP/PQF (including credit card earned PQP, and all *A earned PQP/PQF including United award travels). If anyone has other measurements of milestones, feel free to disclose and share. It will always make an interesting read.
