I did see a couple olive oil places, the one that stuck out was Olive Oil by Physis of Crete - a very short way to the west of the town.

As for status - I am only Platinum but hoping that may afford me an upgrade to something.

We are flying into HER, did you pre-book something to and from the airport? Looking at something like Jayride it seems to be $200 usd RT but not sure if that is the best option.
No problem. Yes I near always get the hotel to arrange. They have favoured exec taxi's and in fairness they were very good in terms of service and quality.

That said I own you apology. I'm thinking of IC Porto with the 35 Euro hotel car fare. HER is further out, from memory maybe 50 ish mins. I just checked email from the concierge and it's a good bit more than I suggested but arguably still good value .... here's details from earlier year.....

"Further to your e-mail I am pleased to inform you that through the hotel we can proceed arranging round trip private transfers from Heraklion Airport to InterContinental and back to the airport. The value for this service is85eurosper way in a Mercedes E-Class which can accommodate up to 2adults + 1 child with a maximum luggage allowance of2 large and 2 small suitcases. Alternatively, I would recommend an upgraded type of vehicle, namely an S-Class at the with a value of149euros per transfer/per way. The airport is 60km away (approximately 1h drive). The total cost will be added to your room bill and can be settled at the hotel. "

HER is a bit primitive as airports go and there are the normal taxi/non taxi opportunists. 85 Euros is still pretty good but I'm sure can be bettered. The same E class at IC Paris Le Grand is over 200 Euro which is outrageous given the journey is more like 40 mins in from CDG.

I'm not entirely sure the OO place is the one we went to but I feel sure would be of the same quality. I think they'd have to be. If I think on the name I'll let you know. the wife tends be better at that sort of thing than I am. We bought some products and they proved be excellent and do order via their shipping agent in the UK. The first harvest EVOO stuff they do is very good if a tad pricey.

Upgrades wise, it's worth an email. I found them more generous than they needed to be. And although the hotel itself is not your typical IC, we found it a very nice place to be. Loads of walk to decent eating options. I forget the names of most but one called Pelagos we found nice quality and very reasonable on price. It's a 4-5 minute walk from the hotel and is easy enough to find as it has a small boat outside. Here's a link to it but in fairness I recall all the places we tried to be surprising good.
