With WageWorks you can now add their debit card to ApplePay, which I find WAY more convenient than dealing with a Metrocard. Although it's a notch more expensive if you really maximize the value of a 30-day unlimited Metrocard (I don't take the subway often enough to justify the 30-day unlimited).
