I get that it's frustrating but in the grand scheme this doesn't even register as a blip on the AA IT radar. Emailing executives or filing DOT complaints etc is a waste of time IMO. This is just "one of those things".
Agreed, and it makes sense, as a real human will physically verify the new document before the ongoing flight. This likely occurs more often than we think, such as every time there's a lost/stolen passport that is replaced mid-trip.
