On last night flight, captain announced reason for delay of BA56 was due to delay of inbound aircraft. At no point was compensation or rights mentioned at all, which I guess is BA’s way of limiting number of people who would claim.

Tonight’s delay to 07:57 is a bit more manageable than a 3am departure, assuming you know in advance and can make arrangements (thank goodness for OR Tambo CityLodge). A number of people hadn’t seen the delay emails last night so weren’t aware what to expect. Needless to say the JHB BA lounge looked like a dormitory.
