I don't believe this for one minute. That's quite evident by the number of posters who are already trying to work out how they can keep status, even though many of them would be really financially stretching. If BA scrapped these changes today, the Tier Run thread would again be going at full throttle.
It's sad, but some people are just addicted to status and will try and get it at any cost.
