It was originally a Boston to IAH one way segment for two people. I am based in Tokyo, so US segments are not very useful. If I had known there would be major restrictions on using the flight credits, I think my SO's desires to change the flight plans mid-vacation might have fallen on deaf ears. Is there a possibility to gift the flight credits to someone else (would be last resort, but better than letting it go to waste)?

Seems strange as we have booked with ANA before with United miles in the past to Korea I believe, but pre-covid.

That sounds good as that might be better for a later flight. Are you sure you can get a year extension that easily?
