Welcome to Flyertalk Booster24, I'm sorry for the late welcome but as you can see the BA pages are inundated with posts resulting from Pheonix.

To answer your questions, status matching is simple provided the matching FFP and offer suits your travel profile. Be aware that status matches usually come with some sort of challenge so read the T&Cs carefully

Regarding Amex, I understand that BA have set a spend cap with their new TP thresholds that make Amex pretty worthless as a way of gaining status. Utterly bonkers but hey, they have just torpedoed their loyalty program so anything goes apparently!
