Last minute cancellations caused by an aircraft going tech or weather are totally different and will be handled according to the disrupt plan where status does play a part and *G does offer benefits that other pax aren't entitled to.
it was an aircraft issue not weather. Our experience did not indicate cabin class and status offer anything above what’s written on the website. In fact, we found “guideline of nzd250” misleading.
NZ was not willing to negotiate and the way it was written in the emails to us suggested the compensation given is final offer and told us to seek travel insurance.
Just sharing my experience.
With ongoing aircraft issues, more pax will be running into these kind of problems.
