Good luck with it all, I fondly remember your GGL attainment process and the highly entertaining documentation of it!

I am BA wise in almost exactly the same spot, having been GGL for around 12/13 years now, and also feel curiously liberated.

In a nutshell, I am thinking GFL and BA/OW for where it suits me, but not being a (cosseted) hamster on a wheel but a free agent to take some other trips actually feels great.

I have * gold with A3, which is helpful; they have some nice airlines, including LX who I like, but the alliance benefits are weak. So maybe a Skyteam status is worth exploring - or just be a free agent.
I also know/use Propeller and they can actually be a good proxy for the GGL team for some ticketing.

I suspect in due course that there will be enough earning incentives coming along and ticketing ideas to generally maintain status at a substantially lesser amount than it first appears. But the BA ticket stock proportion will make the GGL status specifically more expensive by country mile than currently..

But I think quite a few of us will embrace the liberation and feeling of choice. I've long felt slightly bored by the same trips and network short haul for quite some time, so this is a good chance to stop feeling wistful about other destinations but get exploring.

All the best!
