Just to throw in my own thoughts on the new J seat, having just flown it from HND-DFW two days ago - the cabin temperature is too hot for my liking, especially with the door closed and while laying down. Found myself sweating and unable to really sleep deeply. My seat (6G) had IFE issues for the first hour of the flight - the entire system, including the screen, controller, and all power plugs + wireless charging pad would shut off and reset every time I tried to scroll through movies. To the flight attendants' credit, they tried troubleshooting and returned often to check in on the screen. It took them a few resets to finally get the system to work after an hour and it didn't give me problems after. As others have said, there are signs of wear and tear - scuffs and scratches, but nothing that really bothered me. I used the provided headphones to watch movies (these were actually better than the ones they gave on my BOS-NRT flight two weeks ago, so kudos there), but I did find my own use case for the in-seat speakers. I ended up playing some music while trying to sleep and the in-seat speakers performed great in that scenario.
