I have now booked 3 RTW flights - one in econ, on in PE and one in business (summers of 2023, 2024 and for 2025).
I build up the routing in the *A online tool, and/or keep track of legs with available seats through expertflyer.
Then call the UA premier desk and ask to be connected with the round-the-world desk. Then build up the itinerary and put it on a free hold over the phone.
I have asked the LH desk to build up itineraries over email. But it’s slow - email and get a response 4-6h later, repeat…
Plus booking on LH tickets has drastically lower PQP earning on UA. So booking with UA directly is better, plus the price is pretty much the same...
Hello fellow *A RTW travelers,
I'm a rookie to RTW travel, on the cusp of my first booking (CRWSTAR1; business class, < 29000 miles, originating in Tokyo). I wish there were more active threads for *A RTW; OneWorld RTW has much more activity.
wm_ , I built my itinerary using the *A online tool, and planned to purchase there. AFAIK, this means LH ticket stock and future correspondence (schedule changes, etc) would be via email to LH RTW agents. Have you encountered hassles with emails to the LH agents, or is it simply frustration with a few hour time lag? Also, for a given itinerary credited to a given frequent flyer program, does ticket stock impact the PQP (I'm a newbie to RTW, but I thought it would not)? My current plan is to credit everything to a UA frequent flyer account, but I'm open to better alternatives if Flyertalk members have suggestions.
Thanks in advance.
