As I’ve posted up thread, the only logical conclusion I can see from an economic perspective is BA must be planning to be a smaller airline focused only on more profitable routes in future or something. Otherwise very little here makes any sense to me. McKinsey may have pitched that BA status is a Veblen good or should be considered as like a designer handbag wealthy customers will pay for the prestige of or something?
I am particular amused at all the ‘you Tier Point runners had it coming!’ and ‘this is what the US is like, what do you expect?’ posts that repeatedly keep coming in here with zero understanding of the nuances of the changes or how the UK market is completely different from the US.
