No guarantee that windows and aisle seats are available at T-7 days but definitely more likely than at T-24 hours.

As I noted above, I did a test BE purchase (it was DTW-ORD for a flight 3 weeks out) and it was letting me purchase Preferred seats for $29. However, it didn't allow me to select Exit Row Preferred seats.
