For whatever it's worth, I also saw at the airport someone flying UL (Sri Lankan) and it was coloured card boarding pass.
Just to confirm - you received an NZ BP that's coloured and on card stock ​​​​​​?

And you're right - most other airlines give out coloured card stock (and even more surprising, they do it for Y pax too - case in point TG and AI, maybe even MH as well).
Will be travelling on SQ in 6 days (though this time it will be ex ADL rather than MEL), so let's see what happens this time. My next ex MEL SQ flight is in June but that's in Y so 100% it'll be crappy flimsy crap BP.
