It has been reported in the media that one handbag rule not exceeding 7 kgs will be enforced by Bureau of Civil Aviation security in India.

​​​​​​ I have gone through a number of media reports but could not find any information on whether a personal item like an laptop is allowed in addition to one handbag.

as far as domestic carriers are concerned Indigo and Air India had been allowing one laptop bag also along with one handbag.

this new regulation is from the government and not from a particular airline.

I shall appreciate it if anyone could offer further clarity regarding the laptop bag.
