Someone on another thread asked as to whether free seat booking for Golds at reservation had been eliminated. It's not, but I've just found out that the new UI has been incredibly cynically designed to give that impression. Perhaps more of a "feature" than a "bug", but a valid thing to highlight in this thread, I think.

The new booking flow pushes you into a "book your seat" upsell before they associate your status with your booking - meaning that Gold members are strongly encouraged to pay for their seat. The only way to avoid it is to press a relatively small "skip this step" button and then to go into MMB after the booking is made to then select a seat where the price is set to zero for all seats.

I can see how this is going to result in BA able to steal some extra money from their Gold members who aren't fully up to speed on benefits (or when their EA's do the booking - I'll have to talk to mine), but the level of bad faith involved here is shocking. And perhaps especially in the context of how rarified they're making the community of Golds.
