Getting to the Airport - Drop Off and Pick Up Options

Drop-off

When dropping passengers off by car at Manchester Airport Terminal 3, you have two main options:

Paid Drop-Off: You can drop passengers directly outside the terminal. The drop-off charge is £5 for up to 5 minutes and £6.20 for up to 10 minutes. If you stay longer than 10 minutes, there's an overstay charge of £25. Payments can be made at the exit barrier using card or exact change. If you attempt to drop passengers off outside the paid drop-off zones you are likely to receive an Excess Penalty Notice of £100. ANPR technology is in use to enforce this policy.

Free Drop-Off Area: There's also a free drop-off area located further from the terminal. A free shuttle bus service operates 24/7 and takes passengers to the terminal in about 10 minutes. Marshals are available to assist passengers. The free drop-off area is located in JetParks 1.

Blue badge holders: Passengers who hold a valid blue badge will be able to access the forecourt areas, free of charge, for drop-off only. To use this service, the travelling passenger must produce their blue badge to the traffic marshals when entering the forecourt area.

Blue badge holderswho drive onto the forecourts to drop off passengers who do not hold a blue badge themselves will be charged at the normal rate.

Pick-up

The pick-up area for Terminal 3 is located in the short stay car park opposite the terminal. The designated Private Hire/Uber pick-up point is the outside car park area. Upon exiting the terminal, turn left and follow the signs to the pick-up zone. Note that part of this route is uncovered, so you may be exposed to the elements in bad weather. The pick-up charge is £6.20 for up to 15 minutes, £8 for up to 30 minutes. If you stay longer than 30 minutes, there's an overstay charge of £25. Payments can be made at the exit barrier using card or exact change.

With the exception of Blue Badge holders, passengers cannot be picked up from the drop-off zone in front of the terminal. Attempting to pick up passengers in the drop-off zone will result in a £100 charge. Additionally, picking up passengers outside the designated pick-up points will also incur a £100 charge.

New Barrierless Entry/Ecit System

MAN has introduced a barrierless entry/exit system for paying the drop-off/pick-up charge. All drop-off and pick-up areas are now barrierless except for T3 pick-up area which still requires payment in cash or by card on departure.

To create an account for automatic payment, visit the payment portal: https://pay.manchesterairport.co.uk/

Train Station

The Train Station is approximately a 10-15 minute walk away from T3. The route is well signposted in both directions. Part of the route is uncovered so you may be exposed to the elements in bad weather. There is a pick-up/drop-off area at the Station, drop-off/pick-up charges apply - the charge is £5 for up to 5 minutes and £6.20 for up to 10 minutes. If you stay longer than 10 minutes, there's an overstay charge of £25. Payments can be made at the exit barrier using card or exact change. Picking up passengers outside the designated pick-up points will incur a £100 charge.

Bus & Coach Station

Several coach and bus operators provide services to and from Manchester Airport, including National Express, Megabus, and FlixBus, as well as local bus companies. All buses and most coach journeys start and end at the Train Station. You’ll find more information by following the links below:
