So I did a rough-and-ready Malaysia Airlines Elite calculation for a tier point run I was considering for next year and it earned 34 Elite Points for this £1250 routing.
Their equivalent of Bronze is 30 Elite Points and their equivalent of Silver is 60 Elite Points. So my suspicion is that you can probably earn their Silver equivalent status (and BA lounge access) for somewhere around £2300-£2500. I don't know if you need any Malaysian flights and how much trust you want to put in the scheme, but it is maybe an option for those of us who did convoluted ex-EU runs. The optimisation is slightly different in that the mile ranges are different and Economy is fairly close in points for longer flights to Business class so there could be significantly cheaper ways to earn status.
