I doubt that it was a "change" to the service standard. More likely a member of cabin crew forgot or fell behind and didn't want to take the time and thus delay the rest of the service.
It is the new service standard. Just like Schwann, the nuts on all 4 flights I had this month were served cold and I think there's also someone else who mentioned this change few weeks ago.
