They could look at doubling skymiles for every transaction beyond the diamond threshold or 0.5 even million miler counts.

I could see, perhaps, some sort of MQD spend threshold incentives. However, I also remember a couple years back, Delta stating that their aim was to return the exclusive nature of attaining DM. It could be that the DM MQD threshold is merely intended to be sufficiently high to ensure that only a certain percentage/number of Medallions can attain it.
