What an awesome experience. How did the wine from 1918 hold up?

One thing I appreciate about Germany (my main point of reference from spending a lot of time visiting Oma and Opa) and France is the quality of baked goods, even in airport lounges and train stations. I recall in September of 2023 one of the AF J lounges (I was flying CDG-NCE) had wonderful bread.

Fresh well baked bread (and pretzels) are severely underrated and hard to find in the US on a consistent basis.
