As a frequent business traveller (around 4 times per year), I’ll definitely be booking my hotels via BA also. I could travel economy and still spend 2-3k per trip if hotels are included. So under the new rules, I’ll reach silver a lot quicker. If car hire is included, even better.
This is a point that a friend who's more into hotels and such made. If £1 on BAH = 1 tier point, then those who splurge on a big hotel will get 'there' faster.

The other thing I personally find 'fair' is that it rewards direct, and thus more expensive, trips as well as those made closer to the date. A while back I worked on a project that required me to travel often, and at very short notice, to BRU and AMS. Economy only, obviously. The company would splure £700 on a ticket and I'd get maybe 5 tier points.

Obviously, if you're somebody who thus far managed to milk the most out of a (comparatively) small spend this change won't be good, and I feel for those who are in that position.
