Been gold for 2 years through mostly leisure spend. Some J travel and discounted F (rare) for work, but travel costs have been under a lot of scrutiny lately. There’s no way I’d be willing to spend £20-25k for gold, and I doubt many would. Not surprised by the change of model, however I think BA have overshot on the thresholds massively for the UK market, but as others have pointed out, they seem more interested in the US client base or corporate spenders. You could fund 2 kids uni tuition instead of qualifying for gold and have change to spare. Madness.

I’ll be planning future bookings elsewhere for both long haul J and European city breaks, but my limited work travel will probably remain on BA. I’m going to miss some of the benefits, namely the arrivals lounge and the proactive seat block - an absolute godsend in longer flights in Y.

I’ll be keeping my eyes out for a status match to AF/KLM in particular, but open to LH as well. Will enjoy gold until Apr 26 while it lasts. Disappointed in BA, I thought we were getting along just fine!
