As a self funded Gold I just earned 1120 TP's for about £3k on a BA holiday to Thailand via DOH in J. So instead of getting me about 75% of the way to gold it will now be 15%?
I guess if they do away with the soft landing it will avoid BA having to accommodate demoted golds in the already overcrowded club lounges.
I'm Silver at the moment and some way off Gold. As far as I can work out from this so far, I would be much closer to Gold. However, what I can't do is find a dirt cheap way to get make the difference as it's directly tied to spend; there need to be significant benefits over and above those tied to tickets to make it worthwhile.
To be honest, they might as well tie Avios directly back into status levels. Simplify everything by having a single currency for status AND redemption
