I can't say I'm surprised, especially after Avios moved to a spend-based rate and especially given the deathly silence about the BA Holidays double TP offer being extended.

I'm probably just about in the category of "winner". As a couple, Mrs Troll and I have spent about £7,000 on BA holidays in the last year yet, under the current scheme and even with the double TP I'm only half way to bronze. In the new scheme I'd have likely got 90% of the way to bronze with that spend.

On the other hand, it does move us further away from silver. I can't see us, as a couple, getting our spending up to £14,000.

From the airline's point of view it makes sense though. They want to reward loyalty and the only way any business measures loyalty is in pounds and pence. It'll help with the capacity in the lounge at Heathrow too...
