I think TP runs on partner airlines are still doable? A cheap business ticket to Asia on a non-BA airline will earn around 3000 TP under the new scheme, or 40% of Silver.

These can be had for <£2k ex-EU, which is half the spend you'd need to get the same amount of TP via BA.

Am I missing something?
