There were great strides in the QC system in terms of reducing pollution/noise and driving airlines to operate more modern aircraft in the 1990s/early 2000s, not so much recently. In fact, they only banned RR 747-400s during the pandemic, just after BA decided to remove them from their fleet.
Allowing 40 year aircraft to fly into Heathrow in the 2030s is ridiculous.
I respect your opinion, but as I mentioned the UK gov’t is basically enacting ICAO Chapter 14 and EU regulation 598/2014 and the directive 2002/49. According to all of them, 777s are all compliant.
The age of the aircraft matters little to be totally honest, what matters is when it was certified. If you deem the 77Es not to be OK anymore, then where do you stand on 330ceo, 737NG and 320ceo? They were all certified about at the same time. If the 77Es are to be gone, all of those models (which have comparable noise and consumption figures, proportionally) need to be gone too. To say nothing of the cargo workhorses (A300, 733/734, 767, 744F).
