The ICAO standards are the basis of noise abatement rules the world over, including the UK. I can’t seem to be posting links on my phone browser but if you go to Heathrow’s website it’s clearly stated in the noise abatement policies. Here is a post-Brexit screenshot (there used to be a EU regulation too).




Now, I don’t mean to say that an A350 is as noisy or polluting as a 777-200ER, because that’s patently false. My point is that the 77Es are still compliant with the latest rules, and that it is a serious overstatement of BA/IAG’s reach to think that they can influence ICAO, or HMG. Or that they care (especially HMG).
