A 777 certified in the 1990s is compliant with the Chapter 4 rules of 2006, and the Chapter 14 “base” standard of 2014. It won’t, I think, be able to comply with rules in ‘27 or ‘37.
I seriously doubt that anyone could say that BA (well IAG really) has the capability to influence ICAO, considering the track record of the group in getting APD reconsidered, security-free transfers, help during Covid or even a scintilla of support on the introduction of SAF.
