I've picked up on this discussion quite late, but I have to say I'm with the OP on this. From my perspective, and on the flights I am likely to take, I do not consider it is currently worth paying the additional cost for BA F
In January I flew out to Sydney in F. The food and drink on offer was undoubtedly significantly better than that in Club, but I had already dined and libated in the CCR, and was ready for sleep. I think I had a glass of champagne, and then headed into the land of nod. My wife, sitting directly behind me likes to look out of the window a lot, which she did, with her champagne (was is still LPGS then?) being constantly topped up by the very attentive crew; but she ended up with neck cramp by the time we got to Singapore. We were in the newer F seats, so no buddy dining, and as a result even when we were both awake, barely a word passed between us.
Our journey back in March was disrupted, as a crucial member of the crew was taken ill a few hours before departure. We were connecting from Adelaide, and by the time we got to the check-in desk in Sydney all of the best re-routing options had gone; thus it was that we left Sydney 29 hours late, flying QR to Doha in F and then BA to London in CS.
Both flights were a revelation but for different reasons. I fly QR a lot, but hadn't flown QR F for nearly 7 years. The seats on our flight were very old and tatty, and the overall feel of the hard product was very dated. Service on board was very patchy, and although the food and drink were of a high standard, delivery of them was not. This was a distinctly underwhelming experience.
On the other hand, what was to be my first flight in Club Suites surprised on the upside. I liked the hard product, I found the seat very comfortable, even cocooning, and the seat controls were a lot more intuitive than in F. Also it was easier to look out of the window! Having eaten in the lounge, I didn't eat breakfast, but breakfast is always the most boring meal on a flight, and is not much less boring in F.
When I booked our 2025 Australia trip in April (well before Brunchgate!), I decided it simply wasn't worth paying the additional avios (even using a companion voucher and upgrade voucher) and cash to travel in F, so we'll be in Club Suites all the way. I don't think we'll regret that choice, but I will report back honestly if we do.
As I said, that's what works for us. If we weren't going to be able to access world class lounges before each flight, we may have decided it was still worth paying the extra for F, but we are, so we didn't. The thing that will swing it back in the other direction in a years or two's time will be the reintroduction of buddy dining in the upcoming new BA F. The extra conviviality that will bring will be, for us, worth paying for.
