You are right. It seems like there are several hotels in Vegas that are charged directly by the hotel.
I tested a few hotels. It seems like in addition to the Fontainebleau, the Four Seasons, Wynn, and the Waldorf Astoria all charge a deposit by the hotel. It does mention that a deposit is charged by the hotel, but I can see why people may miss that. I've not seen this reported here or elsewhere.
