First, I don't know why the purchase date says December 30 (still December 29 here, and UA HQ in Chicago is behind my current location in terms of time zone). Maybe using GMT time?

Not only taxes and fees are more than base fare, to move into regular economy (this is a basic economy / N fare), it would cost $31, which would more than double the total price.
