The idea that the A350 J is better than the minicabin J 77A on CX is, to me, a little crazy! At least for people who fly regularly. I must admit to not being in J on CX 777 long-haul for quite some time. But I consider myself crazy well versed in CXs J product, even if my long-haul 777 J experience is more dated. (I do have a couple recent long-haul J sectors on CX, on the A350.) And the since-replaced 77H J cabin was identical to today's 77A (old-timers will remember this is actually the SECOND 77A designation, the first one had Olympus J), meaning many of us have flown literally dozens or even more of long-haul sectors on it. I don't really think there is any comparison....if schedule is the same or I'm ambivalent, I'd go for minicabin window seats (11-12 A/K) on 77A over any seat on the A350 J any day on CX. I think I might even go 77A mini-cabin middles over A350, it's just such a better experience due to the crew positioning, privacy and quiet. There is no other cabin in the CX fleet like it, except F. And since it's smaller it's really cozy.
To the posters above commenting on plane types, at least for me and I doubt I'm alone, obviously schedule is #1, along with the hard product. For example, CX is introducing Aria and if I was faced with a choice of say A350 J class middle (D/G) or 777 Aria, that's a no brainer to me you choose the latter.
Plane types matters - I agree with the comments about A380, 787 and A350 dehydrating me less - but it's frankly the last consideration. Schedule and hard product far more important. I really don't think that's very controversial.
Heres another reason CXs A350s are inferior - some of the planes, the early deliveries have God awful WiFi. If that's important to you. The 777 wifi is consistently better. The new A350 deliveries have faster wifi but there is no way to guarantee which bird you'll be getting if in 35G. You could easily get one of the early deliveries (they are the designations b-lra, etc. I was on b-lrd recently and as is case with those early 35Gs, wifi speed was dreadful borderline useless.)
How do you feel about the 359 mini-cabin?
