I’ve status matched from United and as a 1K had the chance to bring on board family members who were in lower boarding groups. Overhead storage can be scarce on the UA flights I take, so early boarding is helpful for securing them.

I’m a MVP 75k and my wife is MVP through her work. My sons have no status on Alaska.
On some flights if you're flying on the same PNR, they can board you both together with one scan of the higher person's BP QR / barcode. No issues usually.
