Had another one on 12/27 PSP-IAH. Flight time was 2.5 hours. FA's were instructed to "take their jumpseats" several times and repeatedly made announcements that all passengers had to remain seated etc etc etc. So, with 1 hour left, they did meal service, main cabin service, etc. Combine that with having to "prepare the cabin for landing" 30 minutes out, made for a very limited service. Another beer? Nope, we are 150 miles away from IAH and have to be seated

In reality there was absolutely nothing more than occasional light chop. I fly enough on other airlines around the world and I can tell you that those airlines are not even on the same planet with being so over precautious.
