The only time I've ever been stopped with mine was at LHR flying BA longhaul J. And that GA was just retaliating because we had the audacity to ask him a question about disabled bording (my partner was in a cast at the time). Have carried it without issue on SQ and many other carriers.
Traveling with no checked luggage, I had a check in agent at JFK weigh my carryon one time that was definitely over the limit (I think 7kg is the max?) but it was likely in retaliation for me asking if we could get an escort through security as the J/F line was closed and the regular line was insane after I had tried to go through with printed and digital boarding passes that wouldn't scan at TSA. The agent made it seem like he was doing me a favor this one time by not forcing me to check it in.
