If there is any push back unless there is someone within the airline who knows the rules correctly then the way to get it resolved is for the airline employees to call the China Immigration hotline. The airlines have access to a dedicated 24hr number if they have any doubts about a passenger itinerary. The passenger should stand their ground and politely request that they plug the correct details into TIMATIC or call China Immigration.
