Hi Everyone, Merry Christmas.
I am flying in February from yyz to lhr and then lis to yyz via lhr on a basic economy ticket
i booked on the aa.com website and can't do seat assignments on aa but can on BA but am shocked at how much they charge for seat assignments
for basic economy tickets, within europe i always got a window or an aisle no complaints there

how does it work for transatlantic tickets? am i better off checking in online? if so should i check in 24 hours in advance or wait last minute? or is it better to check in at the airport in toronto?

i'm looking for a window seat, but also looking to save that money for the lhr to lis segment that i have to buy separately

i'd usually splurge for comfort but i am buying a car and a house this year and need to conserve funds where possible

appreciate any feedback from BA subject matter experts
